Nick picked us up from the Lodge and we went back to Nanyuki for a much needed hot shower.
We were in luck, there was a local 'Jazz and Wine Festival' being held in Nanyuki on the weekend which was raising money for the local hospital. Held at the local air strip (which has a great restaurant), the Festival attracted all the local white Kenyans and ex-pats in the area. We even met a few Aussies who were in Kenya managing local farms.
It was great to chat with so many people, and we did our best to help out the hospital by consuming far too much South African Sauvignon Blanc wine.
We also had fun exploring Nanyuki town over the weekend, checking out the local stores and doing a grocery shop - the fresh produce in Kenya is fantastic. And they have these amazing Apple Mangoes, just like a mango but with the tarty taste of a Granny Smith apple. Does anyone know if they sell these in Australia?
We finished off the weekend with Scott cooking one of his famous chicken roast dinners - now customary every time we stay with friends or family. Any offers to put us up when we come home to Oz in return for a roast chook?
