Upon arrival in Rio I had the 1st bad thing happening...my flight booking had been cancelled and I only had 30min to go until my flight to Salvador would leave....
The stuff at tam was very friendly but I head to book a new flight that was more expensive, but what option did I have? At least they were kind enough to upgrade me to business class! :-)
Upon arrival no one was waiting for me to pick me up! Ricardo said that he would send a taxi but nothing....and his phone was switched of...after a while I decided to make my way into town...a nice American couple who live in Salavador, explained which bus I had to take and were it was good to get off! How ever 1/2km before I had to get of my bus had a crash! So I walked...still caring all my stuff...2 hours have passed....still no news from Ricardo!
I decided to wait for a while and tried again a couple of hours later, but still switched off!!! Ricardo i'm gonna kill you!
Around 9ish I got hungry and was looking around the Cidade Alta for a place to eat! It has stopped raining and the streets were starting to fill with people! Found a place where they had nice Brazilian fish dishes...was a bit expensive though...but I was so hungry and the food was good!
Than was talking to a guy from Salvador to find out were the party is, the guy didn't want to leave me again and was following me until I threatened him that I would call a policeman that was standing near by... was hanging out around the pedestrian area for a little while having some beer listing to a guy playing his guitar and singing and than to some drummers who where wondering through the streets! Fab city! I got a little tired and went home to bed!
I tried to find a hostel, took a cab to a place recommended in lonely planet and stood before a building site...than I tried another address from lonely planet and that place was closed. I started wandering around and found a tourist information...they've recommended me a hostel next door to them, where I took a room for tonight! It started raining (it still is, 3hours later).still no news from Ricardo!
Everything else is great! Been already joining an African mess in a church! was quite cool! Love the city can't wait to explore more of it!
