DAVE & REBECCA'S BIG ADVENTURE travel blog

This is how you usually arrive at their parks, park here, go...

The Oaks, on of three sections in this 138 acre park

We chose to park on Racoon Valley, #134. We chose this area...

One of the first things We did when the sun came out...

Even "The Kids" got to go out and enjoy the nice weather.

We're finally here and enjoying the good weather for as long as...

Usually we like to update the blog shortly after arriving, but this time it's being done the day before we leave. We've really enjoyed our stay here at Rainbow's End. Let me tell you about this special place. It's the HQ & Flagship park for the Escapees RV Club. We're told by others to make sure we took the two tours, HQ/mailoperation and the CARE center. We did both, and we're impressed alright. HQ staff are friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. The facilities are topnotch and kept clean, orderly. The mail forwarding operation, that we use for our mail address, is fabulous. It is the largest private mail operation in the US, so large it has its own ZIP code! Taking mail directly from Houston regional center, one semi-mail truck arrives in the morning each day and one departs each afternoon. We got to see first hand upclose how our mail is handled, we went away with more respect for how we get our letters. Nextday, was the tour of the CARE center, its a adult day care center for Escapees. It can be used by any Escapees member for recovery of any illness, accident. As long as you're mobile and can get out of your rig you can stay here for $900/mo! Includes meals, space rent, electricty, care and full schedule of fun activities. CARE Center was featured last year in the AARP newsletter.

We joined in some of the activities, ate a couple meals (breakfast-$3, Lunch-$3.5-, Dinner-$6)at the Activity center here. We found the Escapees "family" to be a warm caring group. Most everyone is easygoing and helpful with advice to the newest of RV'ers.

But now it's time to move on, tomorrow the 30th we move to TTN-Colorado River (texas) it's near Columbus, TX off I-10. See ya on down the road!
