Hi everyone, time for an update. Attempted this yersday but the system froze so some of you may have seen the pictures already.
Last few days in Koh Samui were great. Took a tour around the island on a scooter ($6 cdn a day) and spent a few days with Steve from Wales. Steve owns a hotel and pub in Wales which sounds amazing (website if you are interested www.tymawrhotel.org.uk) - free promotion for you Steve!). We also celebrated Greg's birthday on the 24th. The staff were amazing at the Free House. They knew it was his birthday and when we sat down to dinner they wouldn't let us order anything because they had a special meal planned for us. They served special Samui fried rice and chicken in carved out pineapples with Happy Birthday spelled on them in carrots (see picture) and then gave us beer and deep fried ice cream sundaes for dessert. It was wonderful and we will miss everyone.
We have since moved on to another island Koh Phangan. We took the ferry over (30 minites) and arrived on the 25th. It is much quiter around the island traffic wise anyway. The resort we are staying is a little noisier - we are about 20 years older than most of the guests who party on into the night, likley in preperation for the Full Moon Party in a few days which we won't be attending. Accomodation is more expensive and I think we got stuck paying more because the island was basically full so there were very few choices. Having said that, the room does have T.V., A/C and hot water which is a first for us since arriving. The problem is now I can't Greg out of the room! However food is a little cheaper. We have decided to stay for only one week rather than two as we are ready to leave the beach and start some adventures. We are heading to Chiang Mai on February 1st where we hope to do some trekking. This will probably be our last update until then.
Thank you everyone for your ongoing emails, its always nice to get word from friends and family at home. Hope everyone is doing well, talk to you soon.
