How great it is to be back home in our RV. We left Victoria, TX at 8:00 AM and were in Corpus Cristi by 9:20 AM and in our RV at Mercedes by 11:30 AM. We measured the distance from Monroe City, MO (Our previous home) to Mercedes, TX (Our current home) and the total distance is 1268 miles. Our total driving time was 21 hrs 30 mins. The truck everaged 15.8 mpg and we saw 16.8 mpg while driving slower than the normal 70 mph.
We were home long enough to unpack and then drove to a luncheon for Mobile Suites owners. There were nearly 100 people there according to our estimate, and we met many new friends. Tonight we are settled in for a relaxing evening of pop corn and TV. The temp outside is only 45 degrees and it is windy and rainy, so it is a good night to snuggle in front of the fireplace with a good book or watch TV.
I have our bikes to put together (We removed the front wheel so they would fit in the back of the truck with the bed cover in place), and need to find room in the basement storage area for our golf clubs.
I do want to take a moment to say "Thank you" to all of the good readers of our web site who wrote to express sympathy about the death of my cousin, Sharon, and who wished us a safe trip back home. May God bless all of you. We truely believe that RVers are some of the finest people in the world. Of course, Marilyn and I have been blessed for many years by some of the finest people in the world, who we call "our friends".
I have some thoughts about our first 4 months of being full-time RVers that I will attempt to put into words in tomorrow's entry. What has been the most surprising about this life style, and what has been the most pleasant part of it, etc. Until tomorrow, let's see what the day brings.....
