ANNE & MIKES TRIP travel blog

After traveling for more than 13 hours in land that was like Nevada.parts of Arizona and New Mexico combined we arrive at the park...that amount of time in a truck was enough..we had dinner around 10:00..still light and went to bed...the next day we hiked the left side of the "W"...we had to take a catamaran down a glaciated lake..then headed off..the round trip was 22 Killometers(13.5 miles) and had to make it back for the last boat at 6:30..I had time for a beer and Anne a coke...the hike was up through a thick forest ther we caught a glimpse of a lake with icebergs floating on it then another view was of Grey Glacier off in the distance...we had to hustle to get to the "Mirador"(view) before heading quickly back to the boat...the wind on the boat ride back was fierce...bac k at camp some folks that sort of hung around camp had dinner almost ready..May God bless them!!!!then it was on to bed..that night it was like the big bad wolf and the three pigs with the wind blowing..we had doubly anchored it..had to...the next day we sort of hung around base camp since it rained all day..got some reading done...the third day was our day to hike the 3rd part of the "W"...at six am it was windy and cloudy so we opted out and decided to hike from base camp..there were a couple of ridges above us that had condor nests so we hiked up to see them..yes the condors were flying around us..BUT the WIND was WILD...perhaps 60 mph or more!!..but the reward for this craziness were beautiful views...by not taking the W hike we missed the real views of the Torres but we were amply rewarded by just looking up all around us...
