Josh's South American adventure travel blog

This begins a multi-day trip. You´ll want to read the entries in chronological order to follow it (that means going UP the list from Nov. 11 - 20)

"Travel is a creative act -- not simply loafing and inviting your soul, but feeding on the imagination, accounting for each fresh wonder, memorizing, and moving on ... And the best landscapes, apparently dense or featureless, hold surprises if they are studied patiently, in the kind of discomfort one can savor afterward," Paul Theroux

Thursday, Nov. 11, dinner with Hector and Luis

We had planned to take two trips while in Reconquista, one to Argentina´s northwest and another to the northeast.

Our neighbors, Luis and Hector invited us to dinner at their house Thursday evening, Nov. 11. They made an octopus stew and rice with chicken. I enjoyed the meal, but this whole vegetarian thing is getting very grey and I have an essay in the works (it needs a lot of trimming and some humor before I put it online) on the topic.

They gave us some recommendations and made a request; if we got to a Cafayete bodega called Vesaje Secreta, they wanted six bottles of red and six bottles of white wine.

We stayed at their house chatting and finished off two bottles of wine. We thought our bus left at 2, so we took a nap from midnight to 1:15 a.m. got up, put on our packs and took a look at the bus ticket. The bus didn't leave until 2:30 and to be honest, we didn't want to sit in the bus station any longer than we had to. We went back to sleep for 30 minutes and walked to the bus station.
