Paul & Leia - Around The World in 238 days! travel blog

Harbour near Arniston

Lighthouse at Southern most tip

Southern most tip of African continent

Elephants at Addo

13/14/15 Nov

We made it to Arniston after leaving Hermanus and spent three nights in a small cottage -Arniston is a very small fishing village in the middle of nowhere, there is one restaurant and hotel and nothing else for miles around. This would have been very nice apart from the fact that i [Paul] was not very well and had to spend two days in a dark room due to an eye infection. On the last day we managed to get out and went to Cape Agulhas which is the Southern most tip of Africa

16/17 Nov

We drove inland to a place called Prince Albert which is where all of the Ostrich farms are - even though its only a short distance from the coast it is in a semi dessert area and was too hot for comfort - in the high 90s - still better than being at home.

18/19/20/21 Nov

Spent four nights in Knysna which was great - weather still hot and sunny, went horse riding and lazed around on the beach.

22/23 Nov

Currently in Port Elizabeth which is as far East as we plan to go, have been to Addo today and saw dozens of Elephants, Zebras Warthogs etc. We leave here tomorrow and will take a slow drive back towards Cape Town, we have booked into a log cabin in the Titsikamma Forest for the next three nights. Weather has not been so good for the last couple of days - cloudy and only 22 degrees!

The big news story over here has been about a woman that got eaten by a great white shark last week near to Simons Town(not sure if it made the news back home. We now think the boogie board was a bad idea!. Still I suppose there are two ways of looking at this;

1. Only a handful of people are killed by sharks each year, the fact that one has happened whilst we are here must greatly reduce the odds of it happening again.

2. There is a man eating shark on the rampage !!!

We are adopting the second option and staying clear of the sea!

Leia reckoned that i reminded her of the Elephants that we saw today - i took it as a bit of a compliment until she said it was because they were grey, wrinkly and had small brains.

PS. Has anyone left us a message on this site recently ?? - Either you have forgotten us already or they are not getting through, my parents said they left one but both being technologically retarded im not so sure!! - If you have left a message and it does not appear in the guestbook please send an Email to crankycrane2@hotmail.com

Hope all the kids/babies etc are doing well - Is William walking yet??
