| We reached South Carolina just two weeks after baby Beckham arrived in the world. As we pulled into Cara and Glenn's house, they were leaving for Beckham's first checkup. When they returned we were all camped out in their driveway (once again decreasing property values and increasing neighborhood gossip!). We spent a great week with Cara, Glenn, Beckham and Mom and Dad O'Neill (who coordinated their visit from Delaware to coincide with ours). As you can see from the photos, Beckham is absolutely beautiful and Cara and Glenn are naturals at the whole parenting thing (what else would you expect from a pediatrician and someone with four brothers?). We haven't seen the O'Neill clan since Kevin's wedding in June, so we had plenty of catching up to do. Abby tends to become one of the boys when we are with the O'Neills. She spent hours playing football and chase with Grandpop, Uncle Glenn, Ryan and Grandmom. Mom and Dad kindly offered to baby-sit Beckham and Abby one night while we hit the town with Cara and Glenn. We have been to Glenn and Cara's house in Columbia before, but I didn't appreciate their neighborhood until this visit. They are located within a 10 minute drive to the city, but their development is nestled in a beautiful wooded area. Guinness and I explored the locale and he went swimming in one of the many lakes in the neighborhood. The lake reflected the vibrant red and gold leaves from the surrounding trees creating a beautiful fall picture. It reminded me more of Maine in October than how I imagined in South Carolina in December! After a great visit with family, we are heading to New Orleans. |
