I don't know why I have a seperate page for this as nobody will find it entertaining.. Although, it really was. I suppose you had to be there.
Anyway, Craig(a manc lad) and I headed in a cramped jeep to the India/Pakistan border for what we were promised will be an entertaining evening of pure theater. The journey itself was a show. Craig, myself and the driver sat in the front on 2 seats. Craig was fortunate enough to have one leg on either side of the gear stick(which was used a lot) His face was hilarious.
We made it there in one piece and were ushered to a huge grandstand bursting with excitable Indians with flags. They were cheering and screaming, chanting and pointing at the Pakistan grandstand which was obviously full of Pakistani people doing the same. They were coordinated to sing songs and chant by an armed guard before the real show began.
The real show consisted of an overacted march by the Indian and Pakistan border controllers, salutations and order shouting. The Indians went crazy when there side performed and it is all about the noise!!
I think India won, but I was on their side and deafened by the roar.. anyway, they took it very seriously and once the flags came down and the border was closed everbody hugged and cheered! Hilarious and confusing..
