Nov. 14/06 We left Norfolk and headed to the Carolinas. At 10:00am we crossed into North Carolina with 23 C temperatures. After stopping at the Visitors Centre we carried on to the Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kill Devil Hill, just outside Kitty Hawk. We toured the museum and listened to the orientation then walked up to the monument. In the orientation he did not say anything about going through the hangers but being inquisitive we did and they have a video explaining about the details of the flights then they have several exhibits. It is well done that by the time you are finished you could probably build a flying machine like theirs.

We then drove down Hatteras Island to Avon, staying at Sands of Time Campground.

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore stretches north to south across 3 islands - linked by a narrow road and Hatteras ferry. This is the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
