That Really Gets My Goat....

Sunset Over The Atlantic...

Another Horrible Sunset....

Western Sahara Bushcamp.....

Random Camels...

Sand, sand bloody sand,it's amazing how only after a few days of it you become accustomed to the taste of it.Not that theres a choice because it gets into everything.

At the moment we are on the edge of the western sahara in a cheeky little town called Laayoune where we are having a quick pitstop to refuel, fill up on water and buy as much fruit and veg as possible as we are now heading further south into the arse end of nowhere(and no we aren't heading towards Ipswich....)

Last few days have been great fun with bush camps being the order of the day.I found my favourite place in Morocco so far that being the town of Essouria which is a really chilled town,so chilled in fact that even the touts are very mellow.Probably to do witht he fact that its the so called hippy hang out but surprisingly not one offer of hash came my way.....

We got to spend most of the day there which was great as I found me a newspaper to read and a comfy spot on the seawall to sit and read it followed by that night bushcamping on the beach at a place where the surf was crashing and there wasn't anyone else about which reminded me of being at yorkes last year with Randall and Adie....

After that we've headed further soouth where the police checks are becoming more prevalent but Chris has got the cops sorted out with his mastery of franglais especially as he calls them all by their first name of Francois(little in joke there for Emilys sake...)

Not sure if I've gone into the driving habits of the crazy Moroccans yet apart from the taxi drivers but after the other day when we had not one but 2 close encounters with a couple of trucks which resulted in no injuries (unless you count injuries to everyones underpants ) and a new airflow system in the backof the truck from where a Moroccan truck driver liked the look of the big blue beast and decided he'd do a bit of bodywork on it for us.....Again no injuries to anyone for all the families and loved ones out there so no need to panic.

Bushcamped in what can only be described as the desert but again would you believe that it rained on us.Ken can't quite come to terms with that and has uttered on more than one occasion that "it doesn't rain in the desert" but myself I'm just convinced we are on some kind of drought breaking mission through Africa whereupon for years to come small villages of people who we pass through will be worshipping a big blue truck as some kind of rain making machine and the funny dirty, hairy, smelly people on it as god like creatures...

On that subject of dirty hairy and smelly,no one has got on the nose yet probably because the amount of dirt and dust on us doesn't allow any smell to escape, coupled with the fact that everyone has a wet wipe shower every morning which is similar to a pommy shower but there is not running water to be seen or heard to assist with the cleaning process.(for those of you unfamiliar with the term "pommy shower" it is one of those quaint terms us aussies have for our great english friends who have the habit of instead of having a bath/shower just wash their bits in the sink..)

Ok must dash as others of the group are wanting to use the email so once again thanks to all who have been emailing, its great to here from you all and to family members and loved ones of the rest of the group i've passed on your messages to all and I'll be working on the picture of Emily.Again on that note to all Mels friends she is far from grumpy as everyone has been telling her because of the pics of her on the site sort of show her that way and I can assure you that only happy happy photos of her will now grace these pages....

So will hopefully update in a week or so from downtown Noukachout or similar when we sort of get to civilisation again so wil try to get back to you all individually when time permits.......

Take it easy....
