Simons Town & Hermanus
Nov 12, 2004
We left Cape Town on Monday and drove to a place called Simons Town where we stayed for two nights. Simons Town is an old British Naval Port and we stayed in a hotel called the Lord Nelson, our room was called Just Nuisnace - named after a dog who used to follow the sailors around !
From here we visited Cape Point and saw loads of Baboons, ostrich's, seals and also some Penguins in Boulders Bay.
On Wednesday we drove along the coast and have been staying in Hermanus for the last three nights. This is the whale watching capital of the world and we have seen loads within 30 metres of the cliff tops playing in the sea with dolphins swimming around them.
We are leaving Hermanus today and will be staying in a converted fishermans cottage in Arniston which is on the southern most tip of Africa, then heading in land to Prince Albert for a couple of nights.
I have invested in a boogie board as the surf is so big around here and have been doing a few pipes etc,(did i mention that the board is designed for 13yr olds and has cartoon pictures on it? I feel a bit of a twit as all the other blokes have O'Neil boards and gear on !!)
Leia -Looking forward to a few days chilling out in the cottage, looks lovely in the leaflet ,sea views, open fire and Thatched roof.
Craney, thatched roof, fire. I think we all know what the next entry is gonna be ........
Having a Whale of a time!!
