Ok. I have heard so much about this place from every traveller to ever have been to Costa Rica. I have high expectations and so far the place hasn´t failed to live up to them. It is one of those backpacker hangouts where the surfer dudes don´t ever leave and the surfer chicks hang around coz the boys are.
Maybe that is a little unfair. There are definately some fantastic beaches here and shaded by the row of palm trees it can´t help but impress. THere are very few places to have a good cheap meal, but that is OK as there is a kitchen in the hostal and the fruit is bountiful.
I had the biggest avocado I have ever seen - yes even bigger than in Nicaragua. That was followed by the hugest mango with the sweetest juice imaginable. I couldn´t eat another thing.
There are a couple of very trendy bars and clubs on the beach that I tried to attend, but I had picked up a very crazy black man who really wanted to hang out with me- I got the feeling that he might be a little violent if I rejected him, so I ran off when I was supposed to be getting some drinks.Still the bars had loads of dancing and great music- what a shame.
I did have another very interesting experience here though of a more positive nature- I met a rich American guy who gave me $100 to go shopping for a dress so that I could go out the next night to a very nice, but not so cheap, restaurant. Of course I spent some of his mopney and kept the rest. WE had a very nice dinner and he ws a perfect gentleman and offered to fly me to Italy any time I wanted. WEll that is what I call being a gentleman.
