Balloon Festival - Albuquerque, New Mexico 2006 travel blog

a great 'free' spot

Just another travleing day - uneventful.

Although, I did forget to mention that our front windshield on the motorhome is cracked. I forget what day Bob noticed that, but that made for a quiet ride after he fusssed and fumed. I know it was before we got the crap on the car.

We tried to find a campground for the night, but that didn't happen. We were heading to one which was becomming way too off the highway for us so we stopped at a small general (liquor) store for directions. All the while I'm telling Bob this place might just be a pearl - a really sweet find. The scenery was lovely - country road with farms, foliage and pumpkins. HUH !!! The 2 people in the store nixed our plans and dashed my Good-O-Meter. They said it was a dump, not safe and really a meth 'house'.

We were very appreciative for the info and now the whole area felt wrong.

We had to diconnect the car to turn around, but I couldn't get back to the highway fast enough. We went a few more exits to another truck stop and found a great place to park. The lot was empty because the trucks parked across the street.

We closed all the curtains - turned on the heat and watched TV.

It was a great night. I probably didn't even need my earplugs.
