July 4, 2006 - We stayed at Fairfield Glade for all of the 4th of July Festivities.
We got up and went to the Volunteer Fireman's Pancake Breakfast. It was fun and the pancakes were great.
Then we went around the craft fair and kids activites. Carsen and Peyton played games and rode in the cars pulled by the tractor. Peyton rode a bunch of times because she thought she was driving. She had her face painted and played a few games. All of the candidates for office were there passing out their stuff and Carsen was collecting as much of it as he could. Lots of free pens.
We had lunch at another part of the fair and listened to music. They had $1.00 beers - unbelievable.
Next we went back to our room to rest a bit when things closed down and then it started to pour.
We went to Robinhood Park for another local BBQ and the fireworks. We sat under the covered area to eat. Carsen met a little boy so we didn't see much of him until it was time for the fireworks to start. He then reluctantly came with us because we were afraid we'd loose him once people started clearing out. Peyton also met a friend. They played until the fireworks started. The rain did let up a bit for the fireworks, but it was damp.
The fireworks were shot off over a lake/pond. We sat on one side with chairs and blankets and the fireworks were shot towards us. They were by far the best and most beautiful fireworks show that we have ever seen and the longest. We were actually ready for them to be over.
