Our tour today was very short; only a couple hours. We rode around in our bus sightseeing in Tallinn around the Upper and Lower Medieval town, as well as visiting the surrounding city. We also visited the former Royal house (yet another lover of Catherine the Great!!!) and St. Peter's park. Quite a beautiful area. Apparently a nude beach is there too. Our visit to the Russian Orthodox church, in Upper town, was also an amazing building. I got a picture before I learned that it was forbidden, so I kept that but didn't take any others. The other church we went to had a special tomb of, guess who's lover, Catherine the Great's Scottish lover. I'm wondering how Catherine got that "Great" status...

Today is our last day in the Baltic states. Early tomorrow morning, my parents will return to Seattle; Karen will start her journey home; and I will return to Poland. It was a very fun trip full of interesting cities that I never really thought about visiting. Looking back at this past week, I think the experience is a wonderful one. It's nice to see that countries that have been oppressed for so many years, can rebound so efficiently while maintaining their history as well as embracing modern innovation. The horrors that these people faced from the 1940s to 1990s could've easily broke the will of any nation. It was an amazing experience and I'm greatful that I was able to learn a great deal more about these nations. I hope to return someday.
