|We stayed another day in the Poconos. We visited the town of Delaware Water Gap and took a trolley tour. Their advertising toted the Water Gap as the eighth scenic wonder of the world. Their tour was about as hokey as their advertising. The water gap was caused by a glacier breaking through the mountain range at its weakest point. It is important historically for a pathway to settlement of Pennsylvania and later an early summer resort for the rich of New York and Philadelphia. The tour showed us where Fred Waring (he invented the Waring Blender) lived, the Shawnee hotel and golf course, the Cold Air Cave, the Gap, and many other things of local color.
