The USSR was huge!

Today we celebrated my dad's 75th birthday! And what a day it was. We started off the day with our tour to Trakai, a small city outside of Vilnius. The area has many lakes that surrounds the castle.

On our way back, my dad and I ventured to the KGB museum. This is where the KGB had their jail cells, torture chambers, and death cells. It was converted into a historical museum that traced the history of the USSR in Lithuania. So much I was ignorant about prior to visiting. I was completely unaware of the horrors that the Lithuanian people went through, and the freedom fighters who tried to maintain documentation of all their struggles. After all, history is written by those who ruled. The basement of this building was their death chamber. I didn't feel right to take pictures of this place, but it was quite the experience seeing the hallway where these people were executed. The KGB killed all these people, but the ground was frozen outside, so they just burried them in the basement to not draw attention.

We finished off with an amazing meal at this traditional Lithuanian restaurant. Great food and a fantastic time with the fam!

Also, I guess there's a way to send an email update when I update the journal. If you want on this list then drop me a quick email, and I'll set it up. Hope all is well with you.
