Brendon And Me

Sailing Past The Sydney Opera House With Brendon On TheTiller (The Steering...

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2006. SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA. My Uncle Kit's friend, Peter, took my cousin, Brendon, his son, Ryan, and me sailing on his 35 foot boat Morning Swan. We sailed under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, past the Opera House, to the Heads (the entrance to Sydney Harbour), and back. It was overcast and light winds when we began the sail in the morning, but by the afternoon, the sun and wind made an appearance. Sydney Harbour is quite busy and relatively narrow, which requires that you pay constant attention while sailing. Overall, it was a most enjoyable day in what I consider the most beautiful harbour in the world.

In the evening, Brendon took my sister, Eva, her boyfriend, Thomas, and me to do some indoor rock climbing. I don't climb that often, but I kept up with Brendon, my climbing partner, climbing every route he did except the final one due to exhaustion.

I have a couple more days in Sydney before returning to the United States. Tomorrow, Saturday, is cousin Natasha's wedding followed by a Chinese tea ceremony on Sunday. On Monday, I fly to Honolulu, Hawaii, for one week, and then fly to Los Angeles, California.
