Hi,
Well we made it to Cape Town in one piece, the flights were not too bad and we even managed to get an earlier connecting flight at Jo'Burg which meant we didnt have to hang around for six hours.
We have been staying at The Capetonian Hotel which is very nice, Leia was surprised by the Parrot on the reception desk when we checked in but they soon got talking to each other. They obviously had a lot in common both being daft birds !
Breakfasts at the hotel consist of a choice of cereals, fruits, yoghurts, pastries, full cooked English, pasta, cheeses, cold meats, curry, kippers, Hake & Steak, needless to say on the first day i had to try a bit of everything, Leia was not pleased with the consequences later that morning !!
Have done the usual touristy bits, been up Table Mountain, visited Kirstenbosh Botanical gardens (like being on the set of Jurassic Park) & went on a prison visit to Robben Island on Friday (where Mandela was held). Not sure the DCI would pay an incidental to cover our expenses for that one though!!
Ian - Leia found the bead shop in Long Street, I have to say it was a lot less embarrassing going around it with her rather than you !

First of all i would like to point out that the picture on this website was not my choice, however i am sure you will agree that the picture of Paul is an improvement.
Cape Town is not what i expected at all but is a lovely place and the shopping is fantastic , shame i havent even got room for a postage stamp in my luggage.
There is one thing Paul left off of the breakfast menu, a bloody huge cockroach the size of my hand [might be exagerating a bit] and it was about a centimetre from my foot i screamed like the big girly that i am!
Paul also forgot to tell you that on the first day at the beach he put sun tan lotion all over himself but forget his arms, he now has bright red arms and a white body, it looks like he is wearing a Sunderland top!
It is our last night in Cape Town tonight, we are going to drive down to Simons Town (near the Cape of Good Hope) for a couple of nights before heading off to Hermanus and Arniston , hopefully to spot some Whales. We will keep you updated.
We are going to go out tonight for a slap up meal paid for with the money that people kindly donated to us when we left - thanks !!
Hope everyone is OK, you will all be glad to know that the weather has been fantastically sunny and hot every day, hope its not too cold back home.
Leia & Craney
