We crossed the border back into uganda from rwanda today i was very sorry to leave rwanda there is so much more to see there and the i meet some great people there through our various adventures planned and not planned. thats what is so great about this trip we stay with local people, meet locals, eat with them, drink in the same bars so much more fun than in a hotel not that there are many but dont worry pete and jess they do exist and i am compiling a little upmarket african tour for you guys so you can experience this beautiful place without the pit toilets and cold showers!!!! We stayed on at the Bunyoni again. i went on a boat trip with a guide who lives in the local village he gives guided tours of the lake called Lake Nkuruba on a boat which the village bought with money donated by the UN. the money raised pays his salary and then the rest goes towards the projects in the local village. he had lived in the mountains of uganda all his life and spoke perfect english i loved talking to him about life here. He is very passionate about bird watching uganda is famous for its bird life and the lake is perfect habitat for many beautiful species many of which we saw. we went to a local market and and saw everyone returning to their villages in their dug out canoes loaded with goats, fruit ,wood and the women were canoeing with babies on their backs.francis told us all the local legends there is a tiny island on the lake with only one tree its called punishment island where unmarried pregant women were put to die but what used to happen is men who had no dowery used to go out there at night and rescue them and make them their wives as they were free!!! we came back at sunset with the sun setting over the lake. its amazing to visit these beautiful places which are untouched by tourism but i am sure it wont be like that for too much longer.
