Adam's euro adventures 2006 travel blog

finally arrived at 3pm on friday. Thomas was alittle late to pick me up, which gave me abit of a scare. The jetlag is still there, after not sleeping since wednsday i was still surprisingly awake, i had dinner and drinks with some of Thomas' friends and family, and i met alex which was great she's very nice and i can see that they both love each other very much. Everyone has been really nice to me and have been trying to speak as much english as possible which is abit hard for them to do all the time. The village i'm staying in is called s'arrraco and it's very beautiful, but very rustic and rugged. It's surrounded by mountains and it's quite hot and humid about 31°c everyday and around 80% humidity. It has rained alot but only for short times and it didn't rain much yesterday on the wedding day and nite which was great. The wedding cerermony was really nice, it was in the local church, it was all in German so a was more of an on looker. But it was great to be there, we left right after the cererony and walked back to the house(finca) to get the party ready. I had Thomas' cousins there to help me, one of them is a girl called bodil who is really nice and speaks very good english. The party was really fun with about 65 people. I did the bbq and it went well. When Alex did a speech she thanked me for comming so far to be there and i was a little embaressed when everyone clapped me very loud, it felt reaaly nice to be thanked like that. She also told everyone to make sure they all spoke to me and make me feel welcome. Which was great because after that i always had lots of people to talk to. We drank heaps and partied on into the wee hours(about 4am). I have been trying out my spanish in the local cafes and bars and i think it's going o.k because i get what i ordered so i couldn't ask for much more. It's also nice just walking through the town and saying hello to randoms i.e hola dias- hello morning, hola tardes-hello arvo, hola noches-hello nite. You always get a smile and a gracias-thank you. It stormed here very bad this morning but now the sun is out and it's hot and beautiful again, so we are all headed to the beach-there is i think about 15 of us staying at the finca so there is usually someone to talk to or stuff to do, all the food and drinks hear are great and the place so relaxed.Especially during the afternoons with the seiesta, most of the bussiness close and you can't do much. So it can be alittle frustrating, especially because i'm not out of wok mode yet, ihave been getting up very early somthing to do with the jetlag i think, everyone in the house sleeps in most days unitl mid afternoon so i've been going for long walks in town with the camera and iriver and having morning cafe and crossiants. It's so sureal to sit on the side of the road in this rustic little town drinking the most amazing coffee and thinking i'm in europe on the other side of the world from all of you!! But trust me when i say that i miss you all and that i wish you were all here with me to enjoy this!!!Anyway i have to go to the beach and have some beers-buenos dias me amigos!!
