On another jaunt... travel blog

Awoke feeling alittle flat. There are only six of us now and I would love to trade four for the others that have left.

Ventured back up to the embassy and applied for our visas. Whilst waiting Sarah and I went back into Nairobi to do some updating on the internet. Afterwards went to get some lunch in a local cafe. The food took a little long and whilst waiting we noticed there were two women also waiting for food. One behind me and the other behind Sarah. Initially they did not seem together. Then the one behind Sarah moved behind me. My bag (with camera and all photos)was on the floor between Sarah and I about four feet away so thought was safe. Noticed the women leave together and looked down there was a big space where my bag was. Jumped out of my seat and legged it after them. Saw one of them had my bag so ran to her andf just ripped it out of her arm. Her face was amazing total horror and shock. I had a shout at her and an old man came over to see what was going on, explained that she had stolen my bag. He grabbed her asked if it was true and gave her a swift smack in the face. By this time I was surrounded by about 40 people. Hands in pockets, don't want to get pickpocketed again, continued the discussions. Sarah arrived wondering what I had got myself into and pushed through the crowed. THe locals were pretty horrified at what had happened and the woman did take a couple more punches. One guy even came from a couple of rows back with a swipe that cracked her straight in the eye. that one hurt,I even felt for her, sent her in tears.

Strange thing is that I felt what was happening was right and was such a good form of punishment I have seen. We did try for the police but they being the police turned up about five minutes to late.

Got a mini van back to the campsite. Wilson arrived with the visas and our passports only to find that Ed had turned into an old lady.

For dinner we went to the 'Simba Saloon' which is basically the Carnivore Resturant. You eat at the same tables, eat the same food yet costs $11 instead of $25.
