We never seem to get an early start on our day, even when I set my alarm and get up at 7, it seems 10 is the start of our driving day. Since we are on a sort of leisure trip, that is OK, but many people have pulled out of the campgrounds before we are even finished with our first cup of coffee and tea. Ah, the life of the retired gentry. LOL

Today we will go from Wisconsin into Illinois.

We had hoped to see friends at their cabin in Copper Bay, Michigan, but I didn't think to get directions before we left home and they were still home, and I had no idea how to find them, and they are so remote there is no phone or cell phone service. Now that is a wonderful place to unwind for sure. Now, we will be going right by their home town and still won't be able to see them. Maybe next year at Goldstock we can all get together.

For you non Goldie folks, Goldstock is a Labor Day get together of Golden Retriever in Pennsylvania. The proceeds from the entire event are funneled into rescue programs, education, etc.for Golden Retrievers. here are links to their site if you are interested.

Our route took us south on US Hwy 41 to State Route 28; 28 to 67 and 67 to Illinois State Route 120. On that road we went as far as Marengo. There is a nice KOA Campground there and it is not too far from my e-friend Ginny, who is next on the the visit list.

On Thursday we drove to Northbrook where Ginny and Meadow Rose (Golden Retriever) lives.

Ginny's grand daughter Jamie was with her today so we had a double treat. What a sweet and lively little girl Jamie is.

Ginny was as sweet in person as she is on line and I enjoyed visiting with another friendly e-friend. Meadow Rose is a lovely Golden and she and Arrow got along fine.

We had Chicago Deep Dish Stuffed Pizza, a first for Roger and me, and it was delicious.

Ginny, thank you for your warm welcome for the three of us. It was a delight to see you all. And give that Jamie a special hug too.
