The Thorne's Trip Around This Great Nation travel blog

We entered Minnesota and spent the next two days looking at lakes, ponds, puddles and marshes. We have not seen so much water since we were sailing our boat in the deep blue sea. Such lush growth of plants too - - in fact, sometimes it was so lush you could not see the water for the trees, so to speak.

We spent the first night near a town called Marba at Sal's RV Park. Marba is about 50 miles east of Bemidjii and I have that marked on the map. They don't even have Marba in their data base. Sal, who is a truck driver was not there, but she had left her ex-con friend to run the place (not kidding, he still had a week to go for the ankle bracelet, we know where you are thing.I asked him if he felt in good company since Martha Stewart had to wear one too. He said yes, but she got on TV and he didn't. LOL) Everyone was really friendly, the grounds were nice and right on a lake. The camp was about 1/2 full of very expensive rigs that belonged to Bear hunters, and lowly tents of fisher people. LOL We sat by the lake and enjoyed the sun going down over the water...until the skeeters found us and we had to head back inside.

The next morning we discovered the hot water heater had quit heating, but we were in luck. Ex Con guy knew a guy who could fix us right up. He called and got us an appointment and away we went down the road. I have only once before seen a work shop that was so clean you thought you might be able to eat off the floor. This guy's and our friend Derald, with an air plane hanger that must get mopped daily. It didn't take long and the fix was done and we were on our way, still headed east on US Hwy 2 toward Duluth.
