Nerenberg, Germany Market

Flower stand at Nerenberg market

Sept. 20th. Last stop in Germany, Nurenberg a city surrounded by two stone walls 600 years old. We were fortunate to arrive on Market Day. There was an open air, cobblestone street pedestrian mall with all kinds of stalls winding through the area. There was fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, clothing, kitchen items and so many beautiful flower stalls, candy and baking - we tried a pretzel. We found Germany to be a very neat, clean country It was noted the taxis are Mercedes Benz - luxury!

We crossed the Czech Republic - border today, no problem, they didn't even ask for our passports. We sat on benches and ate the lunch we had purchased in Nurenberg. There are 40 people on our tour, 4 Canadian couples, a few from New Zealand and all the rest are Aussies. They're a great bunch and very prompt, we never have to wait for anyone. Our tour guide is quite efficient and in a polite by firm manner she keeps us all in line. The bus is fairly new, comfortable seats, lots of leg room. The driver is amazing, going down narrow roads, passing other large vehicles, working his way around tight turns - what a guy!

Our stop for the next two nights is Prague (Praha) and this evening we were thrilled with an illumination tour. The sight of these fabulous old castles lit up at night and reflected in the water, was so gorgeous. We toured by bus, then by min bus/train and lastly by boat with a beer or wine and were serenaded by an elderly gentleman on his accordian with a sing along.
