Wednesday 20th. September 2006:

Everybody was knackered this morning after yesterday's ridge walk in the sun, so Gordon decided to explore our local village paths with the aim of striking up to L'Ofre Peak direct from the village,(unsuccessfully) whilst the rest of us drove to Port de Pollenca to walk in the Boquer Valley, famous for migrating birds. September is supposed to be a good time so we were hopeful of seeing some interesting ones. We did see a Blackcap, (later corrected to a Sardinian Warbler)Wheatear and possibly Rock Thrushes. Overhead several hawks circled over the ridges but were too far away to be positively identified.

After a few hours it became too hot to stay any longer so all agreed a beer was called for, followed by a cooling swim.

Arrived back at the ranch in the evening after another hot day to hear of Gordon's failure in the village. All agreed that tomorrow we would finally solve this L'Ofre Peak track problem! Watch this space!
