Over 12,000 miles since we left in June, we're in the home stretch, and should be on the Cape tomorrow. We're looking forward to getting renewed with hugs and kisses from the kinfolk, and then heading on up to the little house in Bucksport.
The traveling from the midwest to the east has been the worst part of our trip - or at least it seems that way. Long days of driving (really, our choice so that we make it to Maine before the snow flies), difficult or non-existent RV parks (made worse by rainy evenings), and last night, we followed the directions to the park only to end up on a narrow, twisting road .... ended up sleeping at a truck stop we found at midnight. So - forget the serendipidous (sp?) days of discovery - from now on, we go back to making reservations at parks that look promising ahead of time. We did that today, and landed in a terrific park in East Lyme, CT - excellent find, and it's open all year. Just 3 miles off I-95. Bayview CG in Bourne was all booked for the week-end, but Peter's Pond has room, so we're booked in there for 4 nights beginning tomorrow night (Fri, September). We have to collect all our stuff that we farmed out to various children to store for us, and will head to Maine on Tuesday.
