First lookout on Chief Joseph Byway

Check out these switchbacks!

Sorry about the haze! The fire in Montana is drifting here alot!

Larry & another beautiful stream!

These guys were right by the road watching us!

And these guys too!

And these guys swimming in this lake on the way home!

Just plain beautiful! We could sit here all day!

Well, after the road work yesterday into the East Entrance to the park, we have decided to check it out & see if we want to bring our home in from the North Entrance. So, we backtracked to Cody & headed North to the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway.

This byway climbs Dead Indian Summit. It is believed that prehistoric Indians inhabitated the area now known as the Dead Indian Archaeology Site some 4,500 years ago. Beautiful mountain vistas but boy the switchbacks were unbelievable! I think there were at least 5 at all times! Think you can see in the pics. We were over 9000 feet in elevation for most of it, with 7% downgrades frequently! So, we won't be bringing our rig in by the North entrance, that's for sure!

We had a great trip watching the wildlife roaming all around us. See pics. Also, the little lake on the way out of the park was sooo pretty. Will post pics of the Yellowstone Falls next. Awesome!
