The Kirtland Temple
| Our destination after Niagara was Kirtland, Ohio. As we mentioned earlier we are visiting a number of major historical church sites. Kirtland was the first major LDS settlement and the site of the first Temple, which survives to this day, although no longer in the ownership of the LDS church. We were able to tour the Temple and also an historic site where a number of key buildings from the period have been preserved, which give a real flavour of what times were like then. Our benefactor in terms of a place to sleep for the two days we were at Kirtland was, on this occasion, Wal Mart. We are beginning to feel we are getting the hang of how to use our motor home American style. |
