Park Guell

Jarrod's van tour is almost up! Barcelona is the last stop before he leaves and continues on the rest of his trip... We arrived in Barcelona after an 8hr day from Madrid, we were hot, tired, hungry & thirsty. We wound up in a spot next to a van from The Netherlands. Over the next few days we came to know Hugo & his family quite well & many evenings were spent drinking & listening to Hugo's fascinating, almost unbelievable stories of his travels over the last 20 years. Situations you can't even imagine... Like taking your family on a couple of years trip to South America & returning to Holland with 38 Euros to the family name?!

We did all the usual Barcelona sights - walking along La Rambla, filled with it's flower & pet shops; visiting the Mercat de la Boqueria (cheap grapes!); Montjuic Hill with it's Olympic Stadium; La Segrada Familia & Gaudi's other weird but wonderful architectural masterpieces including Park Guell and cruising the streets of Barri Gotic, buying cheap havaiianas!

After many hot, tiring days & late drinking nights, Jarrod's departure day had arrived. Unfortunately the day before he had a stroke of bad luck & lost a gold ring on the beach, but worse was still to come as his bad luck continued well into his visit to Turkey!

So, back to the two of us, feeling a strange emptiness in the back seat, we left Barcelona & continued north...
