|Aaah, back to the coast & the beaches! We couldn't wait to finally get in the ocean again since Greece! We planned to go surfing, but the board hire didn't work out, so instead we swam & watched the hundreds of French & foreigners covering the beaches. After a walk around the lovely town centre, we walked back to the campground to settle in for some drinks before going back into town for a night out. Tonight was a big night for the locals, France was playing Brazil in the WC, so of course every pub, café etc was playing the game. We joined in the action at the 'Newquay Pub' in the town square, but could barely get close enough to see the game! While in the pub, a fellow Aussie traveler overheard me & started chatting. This Aussie traveler was 'Kev from Cronulla', a bit younger than my own Dad, out having a great night with his daughter, Carmel. They were in Biarritz as Carmel was competing in the World Female Longboard Champs and Kev had come over as support. We wound up spending the rest of the night with Big Kev, drinking way to much & getting completely & utterly lost on the walk back. We walked for about 2 hrs instead of 40 mins, wound up somewhere near the highway and got home around 4am! And the hangover that followed the next day... A very lazy day, thankfully the weather had turned so it wasn't very nice out anyway, makes you feel a bit better about wasting a day! On departing the next morning for Spain, the weather had gotten even worse, not quite what we were hoping for along the coast!
