Tallinn, Estonia is not to be missed. The Old Town (city centre) is a compact blend of modern and medieval times. From cobblestone alleyways and courtyards to the Toompea Castle and Toorvkirik (Dome Church), the whole area is full of history and beauty.

Aside from being the perfect haven for relaxation (just walking around and admiring the Old Town), Estonia also has a forgiving exchange rate, which isn't bad either.

Not sure what there was to do besides mild sightseeing, I met up with other travelers at Tallinn Backpacker's and explored the castle, churches and the Russian Market. I was fairly disappointed, especially since it was my only taste of Russia (I didn't allot enough time to acquire a Visa). Don't go there looking for anything of value: used winter coats, antique WWII memorabilia, Nazi matchboxes.

Later on, really the only places open are local pubs and karaoke bars. Ideal with a big group, we waited till after the Irish guys made their own music, then we all went out.

Tallinn has something for everyone and it's unlikely that you'll leave when you plan. So, I stayed an extra day...
