Utah Highway 211

This morning I stopped at the Visitor Center on the way out of Blanding to get a guidebook. It is one of the nicest I have ever seen. It included a small museum with some very nice exhibits. Another surprise was a little "Outdoor Adventure Gift Pack" which was filled with product samples and coupons. Such a nice touch!

From there I drove to Canyonlands National Park, which is about 20 miles west of US 191 at the end of UT 211. The drive to the park is as beautiful as the park itself. On the way, I stopped at Newspaper Rock, which is covered with petroglyphs probably dating back at least 2000 years. No one is sure of their meaning but it is interesting to speculate on it.
