Finally after almost 6 weeks on the road a blog has been started. It will be updated starting from the beginning of the mad adventures we call life here. After our week of doing absolutely nothing other than holding extended birthday celebrations for Denis at Lago Cuatopeque here in El Salvador, our plans to leave the country changed drastically, and send us east, in search of more adventure.
Now based out of Tacuba, El Salvador, a tiny village on the edge of the National Park Imposible we plan on a few days of jungle trekking. Today our day consisted of hiking through coffee plantations, dense jungle, then making our way down a semi raging river hike. 8 times on the way we had to jump off cliffs to make our way down, the highest being about 30 feet, Irwin was redeemed here. Made all the jumps with no hesitation. Only once did Irwin make an ass of himself. Jumping off the highest cliff we were told to avoid a massive boulder at the foot of it. Irwin jumped, thinking he was gonna hit the boulder he went into a sideways fetal position and crashed into the water like a speeding car into a wall of bricks. It felt great. But looked even better. Trouble started halfways through when a convenient torrential downpour made our guide, Manolo, give us a quick briefing on what to do in case of a mudslide - ie RUN. We chilled for a while at the head of a 100 metre waterfall, before eatin some more beans, and hiked our way home.
Good change of pace these days, we actually get to hang out with some chikitas, that dont make us gag at all when we see them. Two blondies from Denmark ... aaah, life is rough.
More to come. .. . ..
