| From Hama we headed for the desert to Palmyra, this tiny place basically in the middle of nowhere. The four of us got up at the crack of dawn (thanks to Terry's persuading) and were supposed to catch a direct bus, however this broke down so after catching a bus, minibus, taxi and a car we made it into the town. We had a look around at the ruins which are fantasic, and in such good nick! Terry again (the bugger) made us walk up this hill to a castle to watch the sunset over the ruins, however it was really crap and not worth the hassle but the views were good all the same! He tried to get us to go up there again for sunrise but the three of us wouldn't fall for his tricks again! we learnt! hehe That night we went to the great restuarant were you sit on the floor on lovely carpets and ate falafels etc... we met a Danish woman (who we still don't know her name) and a guy from England named Colin. So we had a really fun evening chatting and making new friends. |
