Catch a rickety town bus to the bus terminal and then get a coach for the two hour trip to Kuala Lumpur. Have my first experience with a squat toilet in KL. They're not so bad once you learn to roll your pants up and the best way to get in a good position for optimal balance and aim. Find our hostel in Bukit Bintang and meet our roomates. I head out with one of them to check out some of the markets in the area and walk to Merdeka Square to take some photos of the Arabic architecture.
Go out with our new roomates for dinner and to check out a drag show in a club nearby. The drag queens put on a fantastic show with comedy, singing and dancing. Some of the 'girls' could give beauty queens in the Miss Universe pageant a run for their money.
The next day we go to the Petronas Twin Towers and ascend to the Sky Bridge on the 41st floor. The view was excellent, but I could only take a few steps out without freezing from fear. Couldn't get over the feeling of there being nothing underneath me. Afterwards, we wondered through the six storeys of shops in the KLCC Shopping Centre.
For dinner, we all went to a Chinese street restaurant and tried some Stingray (not bad) before one of the guys took pity on a frog sitting in a tank, waiting to be eaten. He decided to buy the frog, christen it 'Rufus' and search the city for a nice park to set it free in. Not an easy task, but he was eventually successful.
