From Owatonna, we headed north to the little fishing village of Wahkon. Mille Lac RV Resort is a Coast to Coast park on the shores of Mille Lac (Lake). Shadow loved the park because there was lots of nice grass to romp and roll on. The week was a continuation of our great "Great Lakes or Bust Trip."

Unfortunately, the trip was almost "Busted" on the day we departed Mille Lac. We stopped for gas at the only station in Wahkon. To leave the station, we had to go down a one block street, turn left and then a block later, turn right back onto the highway. There was a septic tank pump-out truck at the corner. I thought they were waiting to turn, but I soon realized that it was not occupied. I pulled out to pass, keeping to the right in case another vehicle turned the corner. When I turned left, the trim on the right rear cornr caught the rear of the truck. This pulled the right side of the rear cap loose, ripping it across the top and down the middle.

After the usual ordeal with the police, I asked the Deputy if there was anyplace near by that could make temporary repairs. He directed me to Isle, MN, about 3 miles down the road. I pulled into Isle Tire and Auro Repair about 10:30 a.m. They pulled the rear cap back into position, secured it with large screws, placed 3 metal plates over the crack down and middle and applied some good old duct tape. By 1:00 p.m. we were back on the road to Rhinelander, WI.
