Raging Elk Hostel.
| We had a lazy morning, taking our time before we leave as the road conditions are worse in the morning. Before getting on the road we went to Parks Canada to find out about the road conditions for our drive. They said that it was passable but only if essential, and for us it was essential as we had flights booked. As happens the journey was fine. Made even better as 20 minutes in to the journey a black bear ran across the road right in front of us, and 5 minutes after that a wolf did the same thing. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains as well which made up for the lack of view on the Icefields parkway. Fernie had been recommended to us for the hostel (which was lovely) and a curry house. However, the curry house was closed. We went to the Centre of Commerce/Visitor Centre to find out where else was good to eat and a Japanese was recommended to us. However, we got in to watching the Yankees vs Red Sox game that ended up being the longest game in post season baseball history, so dinner ended up being pumpkin pie in bed! |
