The Bouchers at Home on the Road travel blog

6/29/06 Thursday

Left Stonybrook Recreation in Hanover, ME at 9 this morning. Took Rte. 26 up into and across NH, and then 3 and 141 across into Quebec. Very pleasurable border crossing, although Nizhoni really expressed her doubts about the border guard (who like her very much in spite of the rude reception.) Took a wrong exit off 55 and ended up touring rural Quebec, through Sherbrooke and back to 55/10 where we finally got to Magog and the Domaine Parc-Estrie, where we had reservations. Site is good (although a bit of a slant), and park is quite clean and has lots of seasonal folk, but it seems open to those of us who are transient. Went into Magog for an ATM (and some Canadian cash), and into the IGA for some supper items. Raining like anything. No phone (it was working - now both phones are off - "Hello, Homeland Security?") Got the internet dish set-up, but rain is so bad the signal is out. Didn't even try the TV satellite with this rain. At least it didn't rain while we were lost and touring the hinterlands. Tried to make reservations for tomorrow night along our planned route, but everyone is full. This is some big long week-end. We'll plan to stay at WalMart tomorrow night (Renfrew) unless something else comes up, and then be back in the States the next night.
