Jan and Steve UK 2006 travel blog

23 June - Today we caught the train to London from Reading to Paddington Station. From there we walked to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens and saw Lady Diana's Memorial. We saw the Holocaust and Rose Gardens, they are beautiful. We spoke to a couple of police women on horseback. Then we walked on to have a look at Buckingham Palace (from the outside). We caught a bus to the Tower of London then the underground back to Paddington Station and another train back to Reading. It was a great day but we are knackered now.

24 June - Today Bryan and Eve drove us down to Liskeard in Cornwall to meet Terry and Eileen who own the campervan that we are swapping with. They live in a lovely old house with the most beautiful garden. We stayed 2 nights with them and they drove us all around Plymouth, Devonport, Seaton, Portwrinkle and Millbrook.

27 June - We visited a fishing village called Megavissey on the east coast of Cornwall. What an interesting village. The tide was out and all the boats were sitting on the sand. The streets were so narrow that there was many a traffic jam with cars facing each other with no room to pass and cars all piled up behind them. They seemed to manage to sort it out but I think Auckland traffic is probably better. We have camped the last two nights at Bodmin camping ground. The campervan is really nice but the bed is a pain as it has to be made up and packed up again each day. We are sending this from the Bodmin Library and then will head off to Lands End where we will camp the night and then continue up the west coast of Cornwall.
