Well, we're getting down to the wire now. Last minute packing and preparation is consuming every waking moment (and some sleeping moments too, to be honest). Michael is working on making the truck beautiful as well as all the mechanical stuff on the trailer. I am doing laundry, packing clothes, food, kitchen supplies, first aid kit, etc. Sure hope I don't forget anything major. Small stuff is replaceable.
I am very grateful that we have a large trailer with lots of storage space. We have never even come close to filling it up, but I sure thought we would on this trip. So far, we still have room to spare. It takes a lot of planning to be prepared for all kinds of weather, all the bugs, food prep, fishing, etc. Michael and I both have long lists that we keep checking off and then adding to. Just when we think we've thought of everything, we think of something else.
Our dog has been quite ill for the past two weeks. Finally got a diagnosis yesterday; beginning stages of congestive heart failure. He is 9 yrs old, which is getting old for a golden retriever. He is now on heart medication twice a day. Vet says he can live a long time with this, but he sure is "logie". He's going with us, so we'll just have to watch him closely.
Our friends from Maine that are going with us to Alaska left their home this morning, and should arrive here on Monday. Tuesday we will do last minute supply shopping and packing so we can hit the road on Wednesday. Will keep you posted.
