After a bit of a tastle with the wicked van lady, we hit the road for 16 days in a delux campervan named Slammer with an appropriate saying on the back; "when life gives you lemons, ask for tequila and salt".

Day 1 we made it to Wonga beach for a good nights sleep after a busy day fighting over vans, getting organized and stocked with supplies. Unlike the great ocean road, we have the weather on our side this time and plan to take full advantage of it living a feral lifestyle camping on the beach and showering in public toilets. It's all in the name of getting the true Aussie backpacker experience (and saving a few bucks in the process) of course.

The next day would take us through the Daintree rainforest and as far north as Cape Tribulation. This is the only place in the world where two world heritage listed areas meet, the reef and the rainforest. It is truly beautiful and I wish we had more time to spend here.

Over the course of the the next two weeks we would work our way southward towards Brisbane. I can't begin to convey the number of 'postcard' views we happened upon or all the cool places we camped. We put about 3200 K's on the van, a mazda this time which had a more powerful engine and got better fuel economy than our mitsubishi playboy.

Just to name a few more of the highlights (I can't help myself); the Atherton Tablelands and Lake Tinaroo, Paluma Range NP and Jaruma Falls, Conway Beach (our secret site), Emu Park the quiet fishing town, Agnes Water & Town of 1770 (the coolest beach town on the east coast, thank you Graham), Rainbow Beach and Great Sandy NP on the Inskip Penninsula...and so on.

I mustn't forget all the 'BIG THINGS' we've come across either. How could anyone drive past a gigantic mango and not stop for a photo?
