The Bouchers at Home on the Road travel blog

Arrived in Ellsworth, ME after a 7 1/2 hour drive from the Cape (where we had loaded up on hugs and kisses from various kinfolk). We're staying at Hospitality Woods Campground, which is almost empty. Despite some rather poor reviews, we like this campground - very quiet, has some big, open sites (good for satellite access), no long-time seasonal residents, and is in the woods. We've come to realize that the things we value in a campground are often not what the reviewers are looking for (lots of planned activities, manicured grounds, fancy facilities, etc.). So, we're delighted with the place and are planning on staying a couple of weeks while we look for land to buy (for our own personal campground).

Maine is also the staging area for our trans-Canada trip. We need to check current border crossing information, plan a rough itinerary and timeline so that we're in Dawson Creek, BC, for the RV tour of Alaska that begins mid-July, and transition into 'traveling' mode (vs. going from one long stay to another, which doesn't require as much battening down of things.) After what seemed like weeks of rain and cold on the Cape, we're hoping for better weather here.
