Local Thai Fishing on way to Ko Samui

I think that was the first ferry to Ko Samui!

Arriveed in ko samui by 12 hour coach ride and 3 hour boat ride. Weather is great, scenery is amazing. This is the Thailand I wanted!

Got chatting to a few people on the coach and decided to head for big buddah beach on the NW side of Ko Samui. They recommended a place called Shabalah to stay at, so I decided to head there. Got myself in a shared taxi type thing (this was the VIP version, complete with aircon) and got dropped off at the Shabala bungalows. The bungalows didn't come in as cheap as I was hoping for at 600 bhat a night, but they were pretty cool places, compelete with a porch and hammock a stones throw from the beach. I settled down in my bungalow and spent the rest of the day chilling, having already got my days sun allowance from the 3 hour boat trip over.

Spent 4 Days chilling around the local beach, playing the odd game of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" and doing a spot of reading. Nice to relax for a bit after hectic Khosan Road. Made a couple of trips by Sawngethaew (pickup trucks) into Chaweng. The Ko Samui's party town, reminded me quite a bit of the greek islands.
