Hale Mail from the Trail travel blog

We received a frantic phone call from Doug's Mom this morning. It seems that Doug's Dad is in intensive care and has pneumonia and 3 major organs have shut down. He is on life support in a hospital in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Doug had just talked to him yesterday and his Dad was saying that he was not feeling well but that he would be OK until Doug returned. He then asked "When will you be home?" It was like he knew he wasn't well but didn't want to worry his son.

We are flying out of Oklahoma City on Thursday a.m. to Phoenix where we hope to catch a commuter flight into Lake Havasu. If we can't get on that plane we will rent a car and drive the three hours to the hospital. Doug's 3 sisters are on their way and should be with Dad by Wednesday night. When Doug spoke to the Doctor this a.m. he asked the Doctor if we had time to drive the motorhome back...it would take 3 days. The Doctor said "You need to be here within 1 day!" So we will leave the motorhome and the tow car here in Oklahoma City and fly to be with Dad and then return later to get the rig.

So, we hope you will keep Doug's Dad in your thoughts and prayers and know that when we return we will continue with the updates on the website. We will be out of commission for a while and therefore you will not hear from us.
