This trip has been "The Cousins across America" and we had some more to stop and see in Oklahoma. Fred is Doug's cousin and Carol is Fred's wife. They were wating for us with open arms (and cold beer and pizza!) and we had a ball!

Carol is a contract RN and just took an assignment in Gonzales, Texas (about 60 miles from San Antonio)so they are in the process of moving. With all that they had to do they took time out to entertain us and rest for awhile to visit. All of Carol's family came over to spend time with her before the move. Her Mom, Ethel, is a spry 83 year old who wants to go out dancing to find herself a Cowboy! She doesn't want an old cowboy, she wants a young one! (It'll take that to keep up with her!) She was a party all by herself!

Fred took us out in the backyard where he has a shooting range all set up and let us "Fire away"! He knows guns and has quite a collection. Fred is still involved with the Sheriff's Department and is well-known in the area. We had a great barbeque on their deck ovelooking the Grand Lake in Oklahoma and then he had a huge bonfire all set up in the back. He did call the Fire Dept. first, just to let them know that when they saw the flames shooting high into the air they didn't send all their units out on a false alarm!

We had to call it a night because they would have kept on with the party well into the "wee" hours! Doug and Fred had a great time catching up on old times and I got to know and love both Carol and Fred! They welcomed us with open arms and I only wish we had them as neighbors!
