Mt. Baker

Vinyards

We are welcomed

We were not in a big rush to leave Bellingham this morning because we knew we weren't going too far so we slept in a little later than we usually do and leisurely broke camp. We had a beautiful view of Mt. Baker and we were very surprised to come across a lot of vineyards. The area is also noted for growing raspberries . From the looks of the bushes, they will be plentiful this year.

A very short time later we were in Sumas where we got in line to cross into Canada. There weren't a lot of cars in front of us and everything went smooth. As soon as we got across, we were in Abbotsford. This is where we will be until Wednesday while we visit with our friends Les and Julie at the Heritage Valley Campground where they are working for the summer. Julie and I walked around the grounds so I could see all the beautiful work she has done with the flowers. She has planted colorful flowers all around while still keeping it very rustic looking. The result is very pretty, peaceful setting.

This week-end is a holiday in Canada. (Victoria Day) It's sorta the un- official start of there summer season like our Memorial Day - Labor Day is in Minnesota. The campground is very busy. We were lucky to get reservations to stay. I'm sure Les and Julie had a lot to do with it.

We were invited to their place for dinner where we had more of the grilled salmon that we love so much. They really put on quite a spread for us. It was wonderful. We have been quite spoiled this past week with first Garry and Jenny, then Dick and Toni and now Les and Julie all cooking for us. It has been great but now we will have to return to feeding ourselves.

Tomorrow we are going with Les and Julie to see the sights near-by, including the Minter Gardens. I can hardly wait......................................................
