The Bouchers at Home on the Road travel blog

Got back here to the Cape the afternoon of May 8th. We're staying at Bayview Campground - nice, wooded site (internet satellite dish is practically in the road!), and there are very few people here because of the rainy, cold Cape spring weather. Have gotten some hugs and kisses from some of the grandchildren (more to come) - will need to stock up on them, since we won't be back this way for a year. Looking forward to a few weeks of visiting with family and friends, unloading the RV of those things we found we didn't use, and preparing for our trip north and west (Maine, and Canada to Alaska) and then to the Southwest and back toward the Southeast.

Our drive up from East Tennessee was good - beautiful country along I-75/I-40 and I-81 - especially through the mountains of East Tennessee and the Blue Ridge area. Stayed overnight at the Lee Hi CG in Lexington, VA (nice CG with FHU up on a hill behind a truck stop - very quiet, and pretty country), and then the next night we stayed at Petro's in Scranton - a truck stop we've found to be just the right distance from the Cape when we're leaving or coming back. Petro's has a section for RV parking which is easy to access. Unless fuel prices come down considerably, which apparently is not about to happen, we'll have to re-evaluate our summer travel routes, since fuel in Canada is about a dollar more than the states.
